Regarding Music and Syntax

Noted for future reference. I went down the path explored in the previous post after reading Songs of Ourselves by Christine Kenneally, which was dutifully noted by Arts and Letters Daily. I was unable to locate the references cited in this non-technical article. It says that the special issue of Nature Neuroscience dedicated to music was released in August. Actually, it appears that it is the July issue that covers that topic.

Language, music, syntax and the brain by Aniruddh D. Patel is available online and worth the read. So is Modularity of music processing by Isabelle Peretz & Max Coltheart. I don’t think I’m interested enough to rack down the resources cited by the Kenneally article. I know I have become a geek when I spend a lot of time tracking down the cited sources for articles, even when they are wrong.
