Suffrage Parade, 1913
I was surfing along trying to figure out who Frank W. Stearns was, and stumbled on this image. It turns out that he was an Amherst graduate (class of 1878) and a Boston merchant who acted as an advisor to Calvin Coolidge.
Sometimes what you’re not looking for is far more interesting. There are more pictures of old Washington DC, if you’re interested.
Looking for some sort of history of the Christian Science Monitor (Willis J. Abbot was an editor), I became fascinated by their story about Shakespeare Behind Bars too. Anything to avoid doing what I’m supposed to be doing, I always say.
Whoa! Gorgeous photo.
