Several different pictorial books were published by Willis J. Abott from 1914-19 documenting the first World War. Here is a selection of some of the images of Russia presented in this one.
Abbot’s work as a whole shows a strong fascination with the changing roles of women. I have several other books by him on the way, and as soon as my high speed access returns I will post more from this and other books.
The level of retouching used on many of the photos is astounding. They look more like drawings than photographs.
