A Bevy of Binaries

I just wanted to make a quick note of some oppositions flying through my head:

• Milton was universalist and individuated.

• Blake was particular and de-individuated

• Kant was universalist and de-individuated.

• Shelley was universalist and de-individuated.

• Nietzsche was particular and individuated.

• Foucault was particular and de-individuated.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to do more with this later— these gross generalizations set up an overview of the arc I’ve been exploring. What all these thinkers (except Foucault) share is an emphasis on spiritual rather than corporeal freedom. For now, I’ve got to get to work on Foucault and Semiotics.
