Frequency

I haven’t been posting to the blog, or reading other blogs with the frequency I’m used to. It hasn’t been for a lack of interest, or for a lack of things to say. It occurred to me it had more to do with wavelength.

After this semester was over, I ended up in one of my strange reflective states. It isn’t that I was depressed or exhausted, it was more like things started to move in longer cycles. In fact, there has been a steady movement to deeper involvement with things, where I read more extensively around a subject area before I really start to discuss it. Long waves have their advantages. For one thing, they travel further.

There is an effect in radio where AM signals bounce off the lower atmosphere, which allows you to pick up signals from miles away. This doesn’t happen with the higher frequency FM waves. They die out quickly in their immediate transmission area.

However, a middle frequency has its advantages too. It generates a sort of pleasant hum. I cruised along at that for the majority of my time blogging. It seemed to resonate with a lot of people. I suppose I miss that sort of warmth right now; there is just something nice about bouncing ideas off of other people, reacting and responding with a mid-frequency which allowed for some nice reflections. But I just haven’t been able to sustain that lately.

High frequencies just have never worked that well for me. They always flirt dangerously with noise. I’ve tried to keep staccato bursts of that toned down. It can be annoying to just blather on about nothing (like this) too often. But then, that sort of high harmonic overtone adds a sort of richness to your perception of a person. It has its place. I’ve managed to get a really excellent day’s sleep, and have much that I want to start writing about. I need to get my frequency leveled off into a useful range.
