I thought about this photograph as I was continuing my reading reflection on Literature in its Place.
I don’t think video-gaming replaces a child’s desire to act things out, if anything, it enhances it. I was around a couple of young boys who were avid gamers once upon a time, and if anything they acted out more vividly, imitating their favorite game characters.
The real irony, though, is realizing that this photograph perhaps predates the video game explosion by just a bit. As I recall, they weren’t broadly available until two years or so after this photograph was taken. These children weren’t raised on video games.
