Suspects

More information regarding the Harvey murders:

A call to Chesterfield County police from a concerned mother provided the crucial link that connected the slayings of two families in South Richmond to two Arlington County felons captured in Philadelphia, police said yesterday.

The mother told police she feared for the safety of a friend of her daughter's and was worried that two men who had stayed at her house last week had been involved in the murders of a Woodland Heights family on New Year's Day.

The disclosure came as authorities in western Pennsylvania and Northern Virginia said they are investigating whether 28-year-old Ray Joseph Dandridge and his 28-year-old uncle, Ricky Javon Gray, played a role in the Nov. 5 death of Gray's wife and the Dec. 18 shooting and hanging of a 37-year-old Culpeper County woman.

Yesterday in Philadelphia, the suspects waived their right to extradition and are to appear today in a Richmond court.

On Saturday, Richmond Police Chief Rodney Monroe said Dandridge and Gray had been arrested in Philadelphia and charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the New Year's Day slayings of Bryan Harvey, 49; his wife, Kathryn Harvey, 39; and their daughters, Stella, 9, and Ruby, 4.

I don't know why I'm so torn up by this— except for the fact that it is utterly senseless.

Most Wanted

Since there was a minor traffic spike from people looking for information, here’s are some bits I could find. It’s a murder with 197,000 suspects.

The Harvey murders that I blogged about a few days ago are getting a lot of attention—but there isn’t much information. There is now a place to send memorial messages. There were vigils that drew crowds, and the people at World of Mirth have some difficult choices to face.

Gutterball

A well-known Richmond couple and their two young daughters were found bound with their throats cut yesterday afternoon in the basement of their South Richmond home.

Richmond firefighters made the discovery about 1:45 p.m. after responding to a 911 call reporting a fire at the home of Bryan and Kathryn Harvey at 812 W. 31st St. in the Woodland Heights neighborhood.

Investigators said the family members had invited friends for a New Year's Day chili party that was to start about 2.

"Murder and arson -- for chrissake! -- in this neighborhood?" exclaimed 54-year Woodland Heights resident Stephen W. Tarrant, who lives across the street from the Harveys.

I really liked the band Gutterball, which Bryan Harvey was a big part of. This is not a good way to start a new year. Orbus Quintus posted a couple of his songs— I'll post one of my favorites, transparency. Vocals are by Steve Wynn, the song is written by Bryan Harvey and Steve Wynn. The album is available on emusic, if you're a subscriber.
